Ride # 1: Essaouira Circuit Back to Essaouira

An 8 day tour with 6 days on horse back, wonderful beaches and scenery on the coast of Morocco. We work with superb riding companies in Essaouira & Ouarzazate.  Their Berber horses or Arab Barbs are renowned for being shore footed and excellent for endurance riding. The horses are well trained and good tack is provided.

Horse Riding on the Moroccan Coast

 
 

Programme Details

  • These programmes are for the intermediate and experienced. They are about 5-6 hours riding a day - around 20 to 30 km.

  • All our rides are guided by professional guides. (The number of guides depends on the level as well as the number of participants.)

  • Horse treks are available all year weather permitting apart from Sahara which is mid October to April.

  • We start at 10am on the first day, and end around 15h30 / 16h on the last day.

  • At lunch time, it's always a picnic break in nature. Our horses have saddlebags for the lunch and also for your small bits and bobs ie sunscreen, camera etc

  • Sleeping is in bivouacs, traditional Moroccan tents with good comfort: mattresses, cushions, carpets and blankets/sleeping bag.

  • In the camp we have a nomad shower, a shower after your day on horseback. We have no electricity and we have dry toilets in keeping with the natural experience.

  • Our driver takes care of all the luggage and provisions in 4x4. He arrives first and sets everything up. We relocate daily.

  • Moroccan tea and pastries are always waiting when you return from your days riding.

  • We have dinner and campfire every night with the team and breakfast is served every morning before we set off.

Itinerary #1

Day 1: Welcomed at Agadir Or Marrakech airport.

Transfer to Essaouira and a night at the riad hotel in the Medina.

Day 2: Transfer from the hotel to our stables in Diabat at 10am.

After briefing with the team and distribution of the horses, we follow a river surrounded by abundant vegetation and we take the direction of El Ghazoua a village that we go through. We then reach the largest forest of Argan trees in the area which extends from Essaouira to Agadir.

We picnic at the bank of a river, in the shade of the Argan trees. After some rest, we continue to cross the forest and go up and down hillside, being careful not to walk on the tortoises!!

We will take the direction of Ida Ou Gourd and see some traditional berber houses and fields. After a canter on the paths, we arrive at our camp (bivouac) which is located close to the ruins of an old sugar factory made from mud and straw.

Dinner is served and we relax for the night in the tents.

Day 3: Horseback Riding

In the morning, we go through a small village and follow wide paths with Argan trees and fields. Depending on the season, we can see people traditionally ploughing their fields with donkeys and cows. We cross a charming valley, and take a path climbing up a hill. You see stunning flora throughout the day and cross numerous small traditional berber villages. We then cross gorges, canyons and fields in the direction of Argana where our bivouac is.

We visit a women’s Argan oil cooperative where we learn how to produce the oil and have a discussion with the women. 

Diner is served and we relax for the night in the tents.

Day 4: Horseback Riding to Sidi Hmad. 

We cross the largest forest of Argan trees in the world. We climb hills by a river and then we arrive at the seclude Iftane beach. The camp is close to the beach and you will enjoy the most stunning sunset.

Day 5: Ifrane

We have a day enjoying Iftane beach with the horses and Tafedna Argan forest. We camp here and enjoy the evening on the beach with a glorious sunset and fire.

Day 6: Ocean Ride

Our trek continues along a path that runs along the ocean, beautiful cliffs wonderful beaches, to Marabot Sidi Mbark,where we stop for a picnic next to some small waterfalls. In the afternoon we pass a series of beaches where we can trot and canter right up to the guest house, near Sidi Kaouki beach.

Day 7: Return to Diabat

After breakfast, we take a path north. The ride is on the beach with good places to canter. We pass a small fishing village where we can see them at work and then we descend into the dunes where we feels like we are in the desert. We return to Diabat in the afternoon and then are transferred back to the hotel in Essaouira.

Day 8: Airport transfers

After breakfast transfers back to Marrakech/Agadir airport.


 

Ride #2: Ride the Atlantic Morocco

Available 30 November - 10 March only (excluding Christmas & New Year). An 8 day tour with 6 days on horse back on the coast of Morocco through, through forests, old fishing villages and a majestic waterfall.

Pricing Details

Minimum 5 people maximum 10. 

Cost: €1150 per person sharing and includes all meals, transport to and from the airport, tent and guesthouse accommodation, horses and equipment plus experienced guide.


Itinerary

Day 1 -  Agadir to Tamri - Transfer.

Welcomed at the airport and transported to Tamri, night at the Hotel. Dinner with the team. 

Day 2 - Riding - Tamri to Immessouane

After breakfast we start the trek and hand out the horses according to your riding levels. Dunes day/ Tents at night in Immessouane with dinner.

Day 3 - Riding - Immessouane to Tissila

After breakfast we visit a fishing village and continue trekking on horseback in the Argan forest. In the afternoon we go to the beach.  Our camp is set up on a wild beach that evening with dinner.

Day 4 -  Riding - Tissila to Tafadna

We leave the coast for the cliffs and then to the dunes Tafdna.  We go down the dunes on foot to the beach. After a canter we reach the village of Cape Tafenli, here we have a half day of relaxing or swimming with the horses. We camp at the foot of the dunes.


Day 5 - Riding - Cap Tafenli to Iftane

Our path continues along a forest of Argan trees and through small villages. In the afternoon we arrive at Marabot Sidi Ahmed Saih, we then stop on a beach called Iftane and make our camp there.

Day 6 - Riding - Iftane to Sidi Kaouki

Leaving on horseback in the morning, we cross the Arganiers and we have a picnic beside the waterfalls of Sidi Mbark. In the afternoon the scenery alternates between beaches and forests up to the village of Sidi Kaouki. Here we have a night in the guest house.


Day 7 - Sidi Kaouki to Essaouira

We continue along the beach to the village of Taguenza, onwards to the village of Ouasen, then we alternate between dunes and forests until Cap Sim. In the afternoon we gallop along a wild beach 14km to the village of Diabat near Essaouira. We transfer to Essaouira and have night at the hotel. Free time to visit the city, the port and the medina..


DAY 8 - Essaouira transfers to Agadir/Marrakech

Transfers back to the Airport.


Q & A

  • At lunch time, it's always a picnic break in the middle of nature. Our horses have saddlebags provided for this purpose, also for your small equipment like sunscreen, camera etc and for you to carry your lunch.

  • The nights during the trek are done with traditional Moroccan tents with the necessary comfort: mattresses, pillows, carpets and blankets or sleeping bags.

  • At the camp, a shower is installed for guests to have a nomad shower after your days riding.

  • There is no electricity.

  • We have dry toilets.

  • Our driver takes care of all the luggage in 4x4 with the mobile kitchen, he is always first at the camp to set up the tents and put the guest bags in their tetns.  The camp moves each day

  • After your day on horseback you will be served tea with Moroccan pastries await them.
